Non-Jordanian Investments at the ASE during October 2011

The total value of shares that were bought by Non-Jordanian investors since the beginning of the year 2011 until the end of October was JD501.0 million, representing 19.8% of the overall trading value, while the value of shares sold by them amounted to JD423.0 million. As a result, the net of non-Jordanian investment for the same period showed an increase of JD78.0 million, compared to a decrease of JD18.3 million for the same period in the year 2010.

Arab investors' purchases since the beginning of the year 2011 until the end of October were JD325.2 million, or 64.9% of the overall purchases by non-Jordanians, while the value of non-Arab purchases amounted to JD175.8 million, constituting 35.1% of the overall purchases by non-Jordanians. Arab investors sales amounted to JD301.7 million, 71.3% of non-Jordanians total sales, while the value of non-Arab sales amounted to JD121.2 million, representing 28.7% of the total sales by non-Jordanians.

The total value of shares bought by non-Jordanian investors during October 2011 was JD26.5 million, representing 14.6% of the overall trading value, while the value of shares sold by them amounted to JD28.0 million. Thus, the net of non-Jordanian investment during October 2011 showed a decrease by JD1.6 million.
Non-Jordanian ownership in companies listed at the ASE by end of October 2011 represented 51.1% of the total market value, 33.6% for Arab investors and 17.5% for non-Arab investors. At the sector level, the non-Jordanian ownership in the financial sector was 53.4%, in the services sector was 34.9%, and in the industrial sector was 56.8%.
